Nevermind George! Max Irons is making his royal debut this weekend on Starz’ new historical drama, The White Queen.
Based on a series of best-selling novels by Phillipa Gregory, The White Queen centers around the war for the throne that erupts after the reigning king of England, Edward IV (Irons), goes against his advisers to marry widowed commoner Elizabeth Woodville (Rebecca Ferguson).
“He was quite impulsive, quite reckless, quite romantic, and it got him in a bit of trouble,” Irons says about his character. “But he was a very good politician and a very good military man, so he could always deal with the consequences of his recklessness.”
So is Irons as tough and shrewd as his on-screen persona? Not quite. During his EW Pop Culture Personality Test, the actor admitted to tearing up during the Curb Your Enthusiasm finale and being scarred after watching The Last of the Mohicans as a child.
For more on Irons’ pop-culture obsessions — including his most prized possession (let’s just say Justin Bieber is involved) and the guiltiest song on his iPod — watch the video below.
