Exciting news for Max!

Max Irons (son of actor Jeremy Irons and recently seen as King Edward IV in the BBC’s “The White Queen”) and Rachel Tucker (best known for playing Elphaba in the West End’s Wicked, a role she played for over 1,000 performances) will star in the U.K. premiere of Beau Willimon’s Farragut North.

It will begin performances Sept. 11 prior to an official opening Sept. 13 at London’s Southwark Playhouse, for a run through Oct. 5.

Guy Unsworth will direct a cast that also features Aysha Kala, Josh O’Connor, Alain Terzoli and Andrew Whipp. It is produced by Peter Huntley Productions.

In the play, “Stephen Bellamy (Irons) is a bright young man with a ruthless political ambition. At twenty-five, he is already press secretary to a candidate for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. He is self-confident, charismatic and strategically brilliant; a player on a meteoric rise to the top. But when Stephen receives an unexpected phone call at a crucial period in the campaign, a decision made in the heat of the moment unleashes a chain of events even he can’t control.”

Irons is currently shooting the lead role of Miles in Lone Scherfig’s film adaptation of Laura Wade’s Posh. Other films include “The Host,” “Dorian Grey,” “Red Riding Hood” and “The Runaway.” Other stage credits include Friedrich Schiller’s Wallenstein at Chichester’s Minerva, for which he was nominated for the Ian Charleson Award.

Tucker’s other stage credits include We Will Rock You and tours of Tonight’s the Night, The Who’s Tommy and The Full Monty. She has also appeared in Rent in Dublin and The Wizard of Oz in Belfast. She has been a co-presenter on BBC’s “The Friday Show” opposite Eamonn Holmes and appeared on BBC’s “I’d Do Anything,” where she reached the semi-final stages for the role of Nancy in the West End’s most recent revival of Oliver!
